Vermont and Maine ‘Repeal’ Bumper Stickers Become On-Screen Graphics for Sunday ‘Bottom Line’ Show
Whether or not you are able to watch Channel 9’s “Bottom Line” out of Manchester NH Sunday morning on February 15th at 9:30, the show will feature two graphics: “Repeal State Property Tax” bumper stickers from Maine and Vermont. I discuss Maine’s repeal of the state property tax by citizen initiative referendum 20 years ago at length on the show, as well as Vermont’s effort to get a statutory mechanism to allow citizens, in effect, to introduce bills based upon successful advisory votes.
It was a fast half hour, taped last night. On the show, the lessons from Maine and Vermont regarding a state property tax are noted by NH Representative Mary Brown and host Don Rondo. Rep. Brown updates the viewers on the legislature’s efforts to cope with the Claremont decision.
